Clear and inclusive communication helps people feel informed, respected, and able to take part. When we communicate in ways that are accessible and considerate, we strengthen connections and improve understanding across teams. Inclusive communication supports a workplace where everyone can contribute with confidence.

Our Inclusive Communication e-learning module gives you practical skills to communicate in ways that are understood by the widest possible audience. You will explore how language choices, tone, formatting, imagery, and day-to-day habits influence how messages are received.

Through examples and guidance, you will learn how to remove barriers, apply good practice, and share information in ways that help colleagues feel valued.

The course is suitable for employees at all levels and takes up to 45 minutes to complete.

Learning Objectives:

Our Inclusive Communications module will help attendees to:

  • Define inclusive and non-inclusive language and explain why it matters in the workplace.
  • Understand communication as a two-way process and recognise common barriers that prevent messages from being understood.
  • Recognise the impact of language choices and how to use words that include rather than exclude.
  • Apply Plain English principles and accessible formatting techniques to make emails and documents easier to read.
  • Select imagery that represents diverse groups in an authentic way and understand how to describe images for people who cannot see them.
  • Identify practical steps to make interactions and meetings more accessible and inclusive.
